    Default faded red paint

Im looking for a quick fix here, I plan on getting the car sprayed during the summer, after i sort the last few spots of rust, BUT in the mean time im sick of looking at such a horrible dull car. Unfortunately theres next no paint left on the car, you can see the primer on the sharp edges so proper polishing is out. So here is my question: When you spray wd40 on the faded and oxidized parts of the paint it temporally looks alright, is there a product out there that can darken up the paint and then stay on the car? kind of like trim restorer or something. Thanks Lads.

thats a good point, i noticed the wd40 effect when i was putting the windsceen in, i hadn't planned on washing the car in it.

so im gonna lightly machine polish it, minding the edges, then wax it a load of times, then post a before and after. sound.

In a similiar vein, would something like this be salvagable? http://cars.donedeal.ie/for-sale/cars/4226869

Holy Shit! i can't believe how well the wax worked, my car is a deep bright shade of red now. I G3'd the car then used a solid wax and 2 microfiber cloths, wax on, wax off etc. I might have to postpone the respray, the main reason i wanted to paint it was that the doors were a slightly different shade, but with the wax theyre a good match. It was dark by the time i finished working on it so i didn't get a photo but i will. Thanks for the wax education, what should I try next?

on a sperate note, i've already bought the paint, anybody know how long a well sealed drum of 2k paint will last for?

    Told ya

G3 is heavy compound but ok to use by hand (im presuming it was by hand?? ) throw up pics, not sure how long it will last.. years id imagine...

@ Land 9 that car will come up with a good compound and sealent/wax fired ontop, id love to be able to do it, i polished a mk3 golf that was in a similar state and it came up like brand new
