Default Are Twin Cams worth it?

As some of you may have seen in my Audi thread, some bastards had a day out with my car and crashed it.

I'm still battling the insurance company in terms of settlement, but one thing is VERY clear - exactly how much money I stand to lose.

I'm realistically looking at getting back MAX 40% of what I've put into it in one year alone - This is the story with most projects though.

That's a big price to pay for the 6 months it was running properly.

    I digress.

    ------------

I'm considering some cheaper forms of fun to replace it with.
I've had my share of e30s, and regret selling all of them, and don't want that regret again. They're also too pricey now for what you're getting.

What about an AE86? Out here they're pretty rare, but a seemingly clean booter Levin has popped up - https://knoxville.craigslist.org/cto/5411295935.html

Is all the hype worth it? I've never even sat in one, and I doubt I'll find anyone to stand still while I go around them.

Are they fun to drive "normally"?

Most iv been in are rattly, uncomfortable, and a pretty much awful car to daily... But are kinda fun to drive. Very fun for 130hp. Tho don't the US ones come with a worse engine with only like 110 brake?

Watch this YouTube video (there's a few parts) that describes em great.

I'd love one, but couldn't see myself paying the money they demand... Not when I think about all the cars I can get for similar money! I'd go rx7, r32 gtr, jzx81.... or another few e30s

In a word... They're terrible. rattly, slow, underpowered, typical cheap 80s interior feel to it.

A good one is alot of fun to drive and a well modded one is amazing and endless entertainment even without doing a single donut. I'd compare them to something like a slow E30 but lighter and feel easier to throw about. I'd hate to daily one however as an E30 is hard enough at times to live with.

Just try one and see, you'll either love it or hate it.

    Shut the feck up Dave

They are 80's Toyota, so they're going to be rattly. However, if you have stiff coilovers in anything this is going to be the case.

They're no slower than an E30, not an iS anyways.

They are 200 times more fun to drive than an e30, quicker on the twisty and much easier to drift.

Easier to set up and mod to suit your needs.

You could have it sorted to use as a daily but the itch to play around usually takes control!

There really isn't much to choose.
They have what's called a 240sx, which is our 180sx s13, but they came with a shitty 2.4 NA engine.

For that money I'd go for it. Seems like very good value compared to prices over here. I've always preferred the booters to the coupes.

Totally agree, prefer booters too, though with the levin front. I only just clicked into the the ad there, and actually saw the spec and price...Thats super cheap compared to back here! Freind of mine sold a rough booter for 7k recently! It does look genuine and you have the right engine in it. And probably doesnt have the rust they have over here... they are way worse than e30 for rot!
