    Default Lazur Blau 318iS

Not sure if this should be in "Members" or "Project" section

After 5+ years of not having an e30 on the road I finally gave in and got behind the wheel of another, this time the 2dr I've always wanted

I spotted this on Donedeal last weekend in Bantry, few phone calls were made and the road trip there began, here's a pic mid test drive:

A deal was made and after waiting a week I finally got to colelct it yesterday

I've no pics as I wanted to get home, Mondello today was a bit of a washout but I got a few once back in Dublin

I've driven her almost 400km this weekend, without any problems. Over all I'm very happy with it, it has the usual bit of rust starting which I'll try and keep on top of, I've slowly started forming a list in my head of things that need to be improved or looked after on her.

She's in pretty good shape, one of the previous owners on here did the boot pockets, I'll update the thread later with spec and work done before my ownership.

Some of you will recognize the car, link below to old thread, and notice she has lost the lip she once wore...

And that square and chicken wire need to be sorted, probably fit a whole new valance and iS lip.

It was loud on the drive back, turnout the middle join between two halves of the exhaust was lose. Still a little rasp of it, maybe a tiny bit on the loud side but I like the look of it, just need to sort out how she sits in the rear valance and sort the rust.

Not a fan either, needs an iS lip and the iS badge taken of

I still have a set of front eibach spring which I'll fit over the next few weeks to lwoer her a little, might have to also fit thicker pads or something to raise it a tiny bit on the springs and I cracked a few sumps in the old car with the same setup

Original door cards have gone missing also, might have a better set sourced asthey should be light grey I believe?

    Easy fix?

Hopefully also easy enough to fix

Another quick pic from yesterday on my way home

And a cheaky one at Mondello before leaving today

    More to come later...

    ---edit---

Copied from other posts about the car:

    General:
    Bmw 318iS
    Lazur Blua
    DOHC M42 142bhp

    EXTERIOR:
    -Lazur Blue
-Black grill - until I find a chrome one
    -Eyebrows (colour coded) also going
-Sebring Exhaust (quiet) - not that quiet
-Mtec rear boot spoiler - Will be fitting an SE spoiler
-BBS alloys - with caps but one dodgy I believe
    -Fog lights
    -New Hella headlights - nice
-Wiper motor refurbished by last owner

    INTERIOR:
    -Recently replaced glove box Nice!
-Tear in drivers bolster and small cigarette burn in passenger seat (very unnoticeable) - Will be trying to sort this
-Small crack in dash (usual spot). Not as major as I have seen in other cars - Mut have got worse
-Speedo not working even after sending it to a specialist in Waterford. Otherwise the cluster is operating as it should. - Speedo and revs work but odometer does not
-CD and MP3 radio with speakers replaced in foot wells - terrible quality, will need to be upgraded, along with loom
-Electric Sunroof ( no rust) - inside sounded a bit crusty when poked
    -Electric Windows
    -Electric mirrors
-Mtec 1 steering wheel and gear knob
-Anthracite interior head lining - was this standard on the iS?
-Grey check sports seats, tear in drivers side bolster
-Heater motor refurbished by last owner

ENGINE AND DRIVETRAIN: - Some of this will be checked over the next while
    -Recently replaced wishbones and rubbers
    -New radiator, waterpump, thermostat etc
    -New heater matrix
-Gearbox was refurbished by the previous owner and feels direct and solid
-Standard 4.10 differential - Diff was replaced with rebuilt one, 4 clutch plates and new dog ears... or something??
    -ABS
-Brake discs replaced about 2000 miles ago

Thanks lads, so far so good

Made a short pitstop in Abbeyleix and called into Gyves, noticed the exhaust had come of one of the hangers

So while under her trying to fix it he noticed the exhaust bolts in the middle join were very lose, that solved some of the blowing noise from it

Also noticed that the diff is weeping from around both output shafts and the rear bung

The odometer read zero miles after driving back to Dublin, decided I would throw in the clocks from the touring

    Better left alone I think.

Wanted to fit my old radio for some tunes but decided to also leave it

Anyone got a none cut up dash loom?

    And so it begins...

I mentioned earlier that she was owned by a previous member on here, or as it turns out 3 of them. One of which who brought her over here from the UK and had her looking like this:

I have no idea where that lip went but if it's gathering dust in the corner of a shed and not being use I would happily take it

Plans for the moment with this are to drive it for a few weeks and get an idea of what she needs. Will try and service it next weekend when I'm home again and after that tip away at it (when not working on the touring).

Best of luck with the new purchase Brendan.
It'll be a lovely car once you get the few jobs done.
Definitely one of the best IS colours.

That should be all the time so

Lovely car Brendan. Best of luck with it! I must call in the next time I'm up in Dubland! That petrol station down in Cork you took the photos at is only 2mins away from my place!

The odometer used not work in my 325i either. I replaced the cluster, but i've heard the little plastic gears in the cluster wear and stop turning the odometer. I saw little replacement gear kits for sale on some site a while back for a couple of euros

Funnily enough, I was just thinking last night - "Did that Jozi guy ever finish his touring?"

At least you're in a moving one now!

Would have given you a call if I had known you were near there! Definitely give me a shout next time you're in Dublin

I was told it could be cracked solder joins, the gears and a few other things... Got enough to check out anyway!

    It's moving alright... for now

Crossed my mind to pull the (painted) subframes and suspension bits of the touring and us them on this. Then get all the subframes on the iS powdercoated as it's something I wanted to do at the time but couldn't afford it
