    Default Odometer broken E30 318 M10

    Hi All,

I noticed yesterday that my odometer has suddenly stopped working. Speedo and rest of display are fine, but odometer and re-settable odometer are broken.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to find the problem please? Is it more likely to be the meters themselves OR what they are connected to OR the connection itself?

Normally I rely on my Haynes but on this subject it doesn't say much... I guess to discourage people from trying to keep their mileages down.

    Please help!!

More than likely its the gears that run the odometer have broken.. happened in mine. I just got new clocks. But I see places now are selling repair kits with new 3D printed gears for them. Think Garagistic has em too

So you saying I should start by removing the gauge cluster and taking a look inside? After you talked about the gears inside I found this pretty good youtube vid that shows someone replacing them:

Tbh I always thought you had to goto a dealership to deal with the odometer so that people didn't try to fake the car mileage.

    Thanks for the advice Conor!!
