    Default DoneDeal price hike!

Just got an email from DoneDeal. Seems a bit steep. But obviously it's up to them, they're not forcing anyone to advertise. Reminds me of how much of a rip off the Autotrader magazine became.

"We wanted to let you know from the 22nd of August we're adjusting our pricing in some motor sections on DoneDeal.
The price to advertise in Cars, Commercials, Trucks or Coaches & Buses will shortly be adjusted to 11. Other sections* will increase to 8.

However, as a loyal and valued customer we want to give you a 25% discount on any ads you place for one full year until August 2018. This means instead of paying 11, your ad will cost 8.25. For other sections the price will be 6."

Yes. Got that also. I thought that it was a joke first. But it's clearly not

They are a big business now since the guys behind DAFT, TheJournal and Adverts got involved a couple of years back.

Whats their current price for advertising a car?

5 Euro for a car ad, 3 for damaged repairable, vintage, and parts sections. I think its 11 for a commercial ad. Now all cars and vans are going to be 11 and the rest will be 8. I think it's going to put a lot of people off advertising on it. I reckon they want to get rid of the "riffraff" and try and shake off the reputation for dodgy sellers. It has always annoyed me how people say "I wouldn't buy anything off DoneDeal, full of crooks". DoneDeal didn't invent crooks, and didn't invent dodgy sellers. If they weren't advertising on DoneDeal, they'd be advertising somewhere else. People are just too easy to fool these days I reckon. I've seen just as many people get caught with a piece of shit after buying from a garage.

I think this will stop me advertising a lot on donedeal... I can see adverts.ie getting a boost from this. Personally, I havnt liked advertising on donedeal for a while, I find selling on the facebook Buy&sell pages to be much better these days for certain things
