Default wheres the colour gone?

iv been trying 2 get my e30 back to its original red colour. Iv washed the car using the two bucket method and let it dry overnight. Then i t-cut the bonnet. Followed by polish. I cant see a huge difference after my work. What am i doing wrong? I didnt add the wax yet. As my thoughts are that the shine should be there before i add the wax.

You really need to use a machine polisher to restore the colour - you'll never get the same result by hand.

Default Colour

Even with a machine polisher it can hard to get red paint back to a reasonable finish, especially if the car has been repainted in places. It really depends on how badly oxidised the paint is to begin with.

done a mate of mines corsa last weekend
it was in s**t, was after going white instead of red
i used turtle wax rubbing compound by hand which brought up the red again and then turtle hard shell wax to bring up a decent shine and protect the paint (used machine polisher for this) took some time but it came up very very well she was well pleased

il throw a few pics up there

When i use the polisher the mitt gets red very fast. Wil the old paint on the mitt scratch thb paint on the car? And wil it continue to cut off d old paint if d paint builds up?

You will get a build up of dead paint and compound on the mit, it is advisable to wash the mit every panel to remove any contaminants / build up.

Too Harsh!!! Woululd use a milder (medium cut) Polish and a finishing pad and gradually work up if required, I only use G3 if i Really really have to!! its Liquid sandpaper

No Probs Damian, im at it a long time now G3 usually leaves micro-marring (little swirls) and needs to be finished down with another step, milder polish and pad, then a finishing pad and polish to refine the paintwork, its all elbo greese
