can you tell us the year of the car, the engine type and where you are measureing the resistance?
Also what problems your fuel gauge is giving you?

The make of the car is E30 320i 1989 model. I also found the copper screw at the back of the cluster removed. The screw right behind the fuel gauge.

My feul guage was also erratic. Turned out there was a nut missing behind the guage on the cluster. Replaced that and since then no issues at all. If you pull out the instrument cluster there should be a nut behind the temp and fuel guages which need to be snug. As I say mine was missing the nut behind the fuel and when I was on reserve tank the needle was dancing between empty and full. However the warning light did work fine
