Default E30 chrome black sill paint

Hey all,

I've got new sills on my chromie and the whole car has been painted original red. I'm looking to find out what type of black paint is used for the bottom of the sills, but I can't find details of it. Can anyone help?

Kev

If it's already got the stone chip on it then just paint it with something like satin black. If it's not got the stone chip then get a good stone chip like what Dinitrol have or 3M.

I have done mine in por15 then going to give it a run with 3m schutz
The schutz will be the finished top coat so practice before you put it on its very easy to blow it around at the end of the can.

Hey guys,

I'm looking for the original paint code as I'm trying to keep everything 100% original. Just spent a rediculous amount of money restoring it perfectly so want to get this right. Anyone know where I'd get the original code?

BMW have an underseal that comes in aerosols but it's not as good or the same texture as the above mentioned products. I'll see can I dig up a part no.

Nobody is going to notice or argue if you use the above mentioned. The original stuff is 20+yrs old, who knows what they used or where to get it?

---edit---

4x types of underseal/stonechip here with part no's: http://www.bmwsteelart.com/webetk/pa...3_0498&LA=enAA
I've used #2 while it's grand I would only really use it for small area's and patch ups. It's not quite the same effect as originally on the sills,
